Borderlands 2 PC: “A New High-Water Mark”
If you’ve played Borderlands 2 on PC, you know it’s a very excellent experience, and definitely the recommended way to play. During Kotaku’s fan-interview hosted last week, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford talked a bit about the PC version of Borderlands 2, admitting past mistakes by the company and talking up the success with this release. He also explained, somewhat, the lack of SDK tools, and it’s at least believable, if a bit disappointing that we probably won’t get them.
First, PC is the native platform for Borderlands 2. “The success of Borderlands 1″, Pitchford said, “combined with our analysis of the potential on the PC platform allowed us to make our commitment and investment in the PC version a reasonable decision. In fact, almost all of Gearbox games are native to the PC – we develop on PC. But, as developers, we have not always done as good as a job at exposing options and functions to end-users as we have done for Borderlands 2.”
“I’m really proud of the PC version of Borderlands 2 and think it’s a new high-water mark for PC games support from our studio.” But, he said, “I think we can also do even better. The success of Borderlands 2 on the PC will help motivate and enable even more effort. If PC gamers get behind the game it will help more. When we feel love, we get fired up. Hate is a big buzz kill, though, and will make us just wish to focus on where there is love. Something to think about…”
They definitely did a lot more this time. Also, the best use of 'Physx' yet has helped a great deal with some neat graphical effects. PC is the definitive way to play Borderlands 2 by a huge percent.
