can we get some of those old cod maps that are converted for waw

Hi, just wanted to know can we get some of those old cod maps that are converted for waw, like the ones that can be seen here:

maybe make a sandwich, one converted map, one regular waw map?

Well have a look at the poll on our WaW room section .... We used to have a server with mods and maps time ago now we're looking for your player's opinion to try this once again . Pity a sandwitch or mixed maps server can't be done...new (or old) maps need mods on.

Can't be done without a mod. We used to have lots of custom maps (those included) in a server callled [PDE]ULTIMATE and it didn't go over so well because people didn't want to download the maps and mods. There were some other little things with the mod, but only a few were playing and were willing to download the maps. Eventually, that server got moved to the US and is now known as PDE|ALL WEAPONS. I can't say we wouldn't try again if we had another server, but WaW doesn't go over so well with some mods like CoD4 does.

Damn, a shame i can't have burgundy from cod2... that map was perfect for rush, with a tommy in my hand, and a smile on my face, hoppin'n'spraying, bashing campers in the back of the head, an ecstasy of bloodlust... those were good, more simple times:) 

There are some servers out there with those maps. 198.144.182.125:28960 seems to be popular with that, but I don't know what's required there/what mode-gametype they're running.

Well, if you ever decide to give custom maps server a try again, that would be nice. Does PDE have an established player population? A great number of same players who are present on regular bases? If so, you might offer them this in 3-6 months, if you estimate that they are tired of same old maps, and would like some change... I would spend an hour on such a server every day even if its empty, in an attempt to attract visitors. If it don't work out, how hard is it to pull the plug and kill it?

Yes, that is what i had in mind, and thanks 12Xu, but do we get to play them isn't as much up to PDE as it is to the players... if what Paul says is true, most of them are either too lazy or too impatient to even download the maps...

This is true,  from my recollection we ran into the same thing on our servers.  We had to designate what day(s) for the mod maps and spam the ftp for the players to download before it actually gained traction.  CoD players are a fickle bunch, less is not enough and more is too much, always a challenge to find the sweet spot

Well, after seeing all of these old posts, and how eventualy the whole thing silently died off, i can say this topic can be closed... i even wanted to suggest starting off the new server as a penal colony (redirecting cheaters busted on regular servers there instead of JFF, and if i manage to knife someone who uses WH, double the triumph), but after this, i doubt that would even work. Stratokaster was right, it is sad. Paul tried to give people nice things, but they are ingrates. A shame.
