PDE Server Suggestions

I decided to start playing World at War again after a few year hiatus from playing, I enjoy the server a bunch, been playing for a little less than a week. I played the game a lot at launch, but got caught up in all the newer ones and none of my buddies really enjoyed it much at all outside of Zombies.

But I don't really like when the servers go into "chaos mode" when there's too many people crammed into too small of a map.

Personally, I feel that 24 players is good for the medium sized maps (bigger than Dome and Courtyard and excluding the massive Seelow). I still am not real familiar with the newest added maps, since I mainly played the stock maps that shipped with the game.

So, assuming you guys don't want to lower the player limit on either of your existing servers, I would be willing to host a server for you guys. I have a bit of experience setting up CoD4 and AlterIWNet/FourDeltaOne dedicated servers so its not my first rodeo.

I'm thinking a 24 player server without the smallest and largest maps, for decent medium sized games that arent over sized.

You guys could have the RCON, but the server would be running off my virtual dedicated machine out of Chicago, so only I would have direct access to it. I have a FourDeltaOne server that will probably shut down soon since its pretty inactive. I'm not in a clan, just a guy who used to be in one and got tired of drama and BS, but likes to mess around with servers (I'm in IT for a living).

I just want to play on decent sized servers that aren't over crowded, I don't care that much for clan stuffs, I just want to play. So if you guys would like to start up a smaller server, I could do that for you guys. The only thing I want in return is to have help keeping it populated.

Well, I do wish there were more players in the CoDWaW scene overall so some of those smaller empty servers could get filled. It is difficult to get servers populated, let alone keep populated. It requires lots of work and although you see our 'PDE|ALL PLAYERS 2' server with lots of people, that mainly happens at nights for a short period of time and weekends, but if you don't want to see a lot of players, that's the server you should check out daily - like tomorrow.

If this game had a bigger fanbase, then things would be a bit more possible. It's an even bigger struggle in the U.S. where most players are on consoles or on the newest latest and limited, serverless, p2p migrating, 6 vs 6, tiny map, no choice, hacker happy, console copy, performance problematic Call Of Duty on PC with new paint.

What you see here on our 2 servers and JFF is all there is I think. The rest of the players are on crouch servers, modded servers, hardcore, or semi rank-up servers.

There's a 26 player server in Russia (probably hardcore too, I can't read the title 'ÁËÈÖÊÐÈû»»ÒÀÍÊÈ 1ÕÏ'  lol) and the rest are empty.

I played a lot of MW2 with friends, but I complained the whole time I played it. It was fun, but the hackers and lag were annoying. It went downhill from there, we played Black Ops for 2-3 months and stopped. I was pretty done with CoD at this point. They kept playing, and still play CoD together, but I'm done playing the newest CoD every year.

So its safe to say that CoD 4 and 5 were my favs for sure.

I'll put up a server at some point for kicks n giggles, it'll just be named something generic for now.

We have the 'PDE|FOR ALL PLAYERS' server which is right across the water from the east coast of the U.S. and doesn't have many players at nights and we have 'PDE|ALL PLAYERS 2' that doesn't have many players in the day. You can check 213.163.83.191:28961 'PDE|FOR ALL PLAYERS |No GL|No Martyr|' right now. It has only 14 players there tonight.

well, I played in I think the 2nd server today a bit, and ended up playing Dome a few times

Dome with more than 16 people is just....too much

I would probably enjoy the servers more without Dome, and maybe Courtyard

Hehe so it's all about Dome and Courtyard. Well, you can type the command !nextmap to see what's coming before you play and also the command !maps to see the map rotation. Type those in chat and they will give you the heads up so you can avoid those.

Well, thats probably the 2 biggest issues that I see anyway. Some of the other maps won't be much fun if the server ever got full.

Personally, I just dont understand how people can enjoy playing a game where they constantly spawn, walk 2 feet then run into gun fire or grenades because theres so many people crammed into these small maps.

I can understand your point. Dome is one of the most popular maps in the game and I think players love getting massive kills on that map. In all CODs since COD4, there's always been a small map that is favorites amongst most, even if some players have said what you said. Right now, there's some controversy with the map Nuketown from Black Ops. It was so popular that Treyarch brought it back for preorder in Black Ops 2, but there's some problem with that as there were complaints about people not being able to play it or something.

Yeah Dome and Courtyard probably shouldn't be in the rotation with lots of people and you would think people would leave when it came to those maps, but the speed and thrill of major killcounts, plus ranking up faster is why they stay. I love Dome, but we don't make these decisions for ourselves. If the majority of players wanted us to remove those maps, they would be gone. There are some players that only come when Dome comes around.

We can't get another server as it's something we can't just do. If it was possible, we would have to have new admin for that server and lots of time to get it populated unless players just wanted to casually play on it. There's just not enough players for it.
