AT&T Starts Capping Home Internet Usage

AT&T chose to put either 200MB or 2GB data caps on smartphones almost a year ago. The company is following suit with that plan and moving it to home broadband use. Instead of paying a monthly fee for unlimited internet access, AT&T has begun to roll out capped data plans. It's very simple. If you are a member of the U-Verse service you get 250GB of internet use per month and if you are on DSL, it's 150GB. There's no need to worry about going over though, as AT&T says the average internet user rarely uses more than 20GB per month.

These changes really only effect 2% of all AT&T internet users, but those 2% use over 20% of AT&T's bandwidth. The new data caps are being enforced to make those who use more pay more. If you are one of the few that do go over 250GB per month, you'll have to pay an additional $10 to get 50 more gigabytes for that month.
